“With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. Psalm 18:29
I have learned throughout my life that some things are more difficult than others. It’s easy for me to pick a place to eat, but when I am trying to watch what I eat... well that’s much harder. It’s easy for me to bust out a joke in a social setting, but it’s hard for me to hold my tongue in an argument. It’s easy for me to stand up and cheer at a sporting event amongst strangers, but it can be hard to stand up for myself amongst friends.
Again, some things are more difficult than others. However, I have also learned that when I try to do it in my own power and will, 99% of the time it ends in flames (figuratively and sometimes literally). It never goes well when I try to handle or deal with my problems. Sure, I can get the tasks done or handle the challenges thrown my way! But deep down I know that if I simply would have let God lead the way, I wouldn’t have ended up with nearly as much pain, difficulty, or even trauma.
I’ll be real with you, sometimes I’m not patient enough to have the self control for God to lead. I want to control every little circumstance and that get’s me into trouble more than I’d like to admit. In my own power, I can advance against a troop, but I won’t be able to tell you how many injuries I’ll sustain or if I’ll even make it out alive. With God? I can advance against the troop and still have enough strength to scale any wall I see fit.
God wants to lead the way. He wants to show you the opportunities and advancements you can receive throughout the process. Again, it all comes down to having the faith to trust in His will over your own. It is easy to go with what you feel over what you know to be true. God is for you. Your heart deceives you. Stand with truth over emotions when it comes to the little decisions of life or the ones that present a crossroad. Little decisions always make their way to becoming bigger ones down the road. It’s what we call the “snowball” effect or the “slow fade.”
God wants to help you scale the walls of your temptation. He wants to help you advance against the enemy and take claim to what is yours! Whether it’s a battle with your emotions, feelings, addictions, or etc, God wants to pave the way and help you to fight on! Scale the walls and wave your victory flag high!
